Lucasfilm Ltd. and Disney Release the Official Trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi

“Fulfill your destiny.”

Official Trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi

It has been six months since the teaser trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi was released at Star Wars Celebration. Since then, fans have eagerly awaited the official trailer for the upcoming film. Their wait is over now that the official trailer has finally been released. The trailer begins with Luke Skywalker’s voice describing the “raw untamed power” that Rey has. It shows Rey on a small rocky island with Luke Skywalker. Rey confirms that she has always felt different and asks for Luke to help train her. While training Rey, Luke states that he has seen raw strength like hers only once before. He tells her that if it didn’t scare him enough then, that it does now, and then it seems that he abandons Rey on the island.

Following that scene is Kylo Ren piloting his TIE fighter. He is speaking of letting the past die, and even says “kill it if you have to.” It is there the scene turns to Princess Leia. (Sadly, this will be the legendary actress Carrie Fishers last film.) Kylo Ren has his finger on the trigger and is ready to take aim at Leia’s starship when the scene changes. The trailer includes a scene where planes are battling with Chewbacca behind the wheel of one. He is accompanied by a small furry adorable companion. It also includes a scene where Finn and Captain Phasma are dueling. Luke returns to the trailer in a scene where he tells someone (perhaps Rey) that “This is not going to go the way you think.”

After a few more scenes Supreme Leader Snoke makes an appearance. He is saying to “fulfill your destiny” to Rey while he uses the dark force to control her. The trailer concludes with Rey saying that she “needs someone to show me my place in all this.” The scene cuts to Kylo Ren extending his hand. With all of these new scenes there will surely be much debate about the intentions of Rey. Will she stay on the light side, or move towards the dark side of the force? Star Wars: The Last Jedi theater release will be on December 15, 2017.
