MegaCon Orlando has just wrapped up their four day long convention that was held at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida. The dates for the event were Thursday May 25 through Sunday May 28, 2017. The event has had many years to establish it’s reputation for being one of Florida’s largest pop culture and comic book conventions, and this year MegaCon Orlando lived up to it’s reputation. Each day thousands of fans attended the multi-genre convention to meet their favorite celebrities, shop with hundreds of unique vendors, display their creative cosplays, and to enjoy some of the many exciting activities and events.

MegaCon Orlando 2017 Brought Mega Superstars to this Years Event

MegaCon Orlando always has an incredible line up of special guests. This year the event was graced with a rare appearance of the legendary Tim Curry. Many attendees dressed as their own version of  his character from The Rocky Horror Picture Show, such as Rolando the Joker  who cosplayed as Dr. Frank-N-Joker. Another huge draw for this years event was the final Florida appearance of the comic book icon and legend, Stan Lee. All four days fans filled the area that was designated for waiting on the opportunity to meet the creator of many beloved Marvel characters. Actors Caleb McLaughlin and Gaten Matarazzo from the wildly popular Netflix original series Stranger Things also drew large crowds. The list of wonderful guests that attended MegaCon Orlando 2017 was almost as long as the lines for Stan Lee.

Renowned actors such as Nolan North and Troy Baker from the Uncharted video game series, Paige O’Hara from the animated Disney film Beauty & the Beast, Billy West from Futurama, and Linda Ballantyne from Sailor Moon also had long lines of eager fans in front of their booths. Even the cast of the classic television series Dukes of Hazzard were at the convention; as well as a 1969 Dodge Charger that was painted to look identical to the General Lee. This year the event also welcomed the legendary rocker Alice Cooper who is known for his popular songs School’s Out, No More Mr. Nice Guy and I’m Eighteen.

Artist Alley had many incredible guests including the legendary artist J. Scott Campbell, Amanda Conner, Mike Zeck, Tom King, Adam Kubert, and more. Artist Morgan Wilson (Lux Nova Studio) had many amazing pieces of her artwork on display and for sale. Her piece titled “My Untrue Love” was so captivating that her saddened eyes seemed to follow the viewer where ever they moved. The innovative writer, artist and entrepreneur JP Roth of Rothic Comics was eager to share more about her impressive and critically acclaimed series such as Divinica, Ancient Dreams, Southern Nightgown, and more. There were over four hundred incredibly talented artists, authors, publishers, and creators at this years MegaCon.

MegaCon Orlando 2017’s List of Talented Cosplay Guests

The cosplay queen Yaya Han attended MegaCon Orlando 2017 and had a booth set up where fans could purchase her custom line of wings, ears, horns, prints, and more. She was happy to meet her adoring fans and pose for photographs. The amazingly talented Alyson Tabbitha had a booth on Cosplay Alley beside her talented sister, Madison Kate. They were both so friendly and eager to meet everyone who visited their booth. The beautiful Holly Wolf made the trip to Florida all the way from Canada and she even cosplayed as her popular cosplay Princess Zelda on Saturday. Karli Woods cosplayed as Velma from Scooby Doo and a unique version of Harley Quinn from Suicide Squad.

Cecil Grimes had his incredible set that so frighteningly resembles scenery from The Walking Dead where fans could pose for a photograph with himself, Daryl Dixon cosplayer and look-alike Richard Dixon Cosplay and a terrifying zombie cosplayer. Cos A Commotion Cosplay  had an amazing Gotham set where fans could pose with them for a photograph. There were also many other kind, talented and creative Cosplay Guests who had booths at this years event.

MegaCon Orlando 2017

This year MegaCon Orlando came together with Marc Andreyko’s (DC Comics) Love is Love project to host a live art auction to honor the victims of Pulse Nightclub and the auction raised more than $10,000. Attendees at MegaCon Orlando could browse and buy art from Artist Alley, attend The Rocky Horror Picture Show Live Shadowcast by Cheap Little Punks, enter or watch the Costume Contest presented by GEICO, attend Q&A panels with Stan Lee and many other talented guests, shop with hundreds of unique vendors, admire the amazing cosplays and so much more.

There was literately something for attendees to see and do at MegaCon from the moment the doors opened on Thursday until the moment the doors closed on Sunday. We thoroughly enjoyed this years event and had a great time meeting so many amazing people. We look forward with great anticipation to next years MegaCon Orlando 2018. Thankfully, Fan Expo is returning to Tampa, Florida for MegaCon Tampa Bay 2017. The dates for MegaCon Tampa Bay 2017 will be Friday, September 29 through Sunday, October 1, 2017. Be sure to mark your calanders, and we hope to see you all in Tampa, Florida this Fall.
